English Lavender is more compact and has smaller flowers than its French cousin. Lavandula angustifolia is a hardy, low-growing plant. It can be grown in pots and containers of coarse sand, chalky soil, and well-drained loam. It has a maximum height of 60 cm (24 inches). The flowering period extends from summer to early autumn. Flowers are violet blue in colour.
