About us
The Plant Room is an exciting new concept shop in Richmond and is a branch of the award-winning social enterprise Camden Garden Centre.
On the ground floor walk into a jungle of houseplants - hanging houseplants, flowering houseplants, Cacti and succulents, orchids and lush tropical plants with a mass of pots and containers and fresh flowers.
The large lower floor showroom is just amazing ! Masses of exclusive pots, mirrors, clocks, glassware, gifts and fabulous interior style items by, amongst others, the exquisite PTMD Collection. Our carefully curated bookshop of fiction and non fiction is a joy - not only botanically inspired books on plants, gardens, gardening, nature and the environment but also mindfulness, wellbeing and being at one with the natural world. There is a plethora of oh so realistic artificial plants and flowers and gardening products, brilliant tools by Burgon and Ball, Franchi seeds and all the care products you will need to look after your plants.Seasonal outdoor garden plants, terracotta pots and planters and compost wait for you in the outside area.

Our Story
The Plant Room started trading in October 2021 with a grand opening by horticultural legend Joe Swift on November 6th. The shop has had a number of incarnations over the years most recently a rug showroom. We are located in the lovely Sheen Park/The Alberts area of Richmond just ten minutes walk from Richmond Station via Church Road or Sheen Road. The shop has been recently refurbished to a high standard so we didn't need to do much to it apart from a lick of paint, resignage and shop fittings. We have parking outside and a loading area at the back of the shop.
We are part of Camden Garden Centre, owned by a charity The Camden Garden Centre Charitable Trust. The Garden Centre has been trading since 1983 with the ethos of helping disadvataged people get into work through employment and training and has been very successful. We wanted to start additional horticultural social enterprises to help more people. Initially we looked across North London but widened our search for premises and found this fantastic two floor shop which you will love as much as we do. We have a group of talented staff and we shall also take on trainees from the Richmond and surrounding areas. Our ranges of pots and interior style are sensational, much from the renowned stylist PTMD - eco friendly and fair trade. The garden plants we stock will change with the seasons and because of our parent company, Camden Garden Centre, we can order so much more for you at any time of year!
And our prime purpose by being a first class independent business, standing on our own two feet not dependent on funding or donations with only a charity as shareholder, is that we can take on local disadvantaged people as Trainees.
