Yucca is native to arid and semiarid regions of North and South America. They are evergreen, with needle-like leaves that grow in clusters. Yucca have a long history of use in herbalism and folk medicine. The name is derived from Ancient Greek Υοκακη (yoke), apparently from the fact that the plant's fibers were used to make rope or twine.
